Rafting Trip April 05-08 2012

It was time for some north side trip with my BoB friends this time. So while I had already shifted to Delhi all of the others traveled by train and our long awaited trip began on April 05, 2012. We traveled all the way to Mussorrie which took us 10 hrs by cab (with panditji at the driving seat offcourse :P). I was glad to be back at the hill station after 20 long years but the place disappointed me a little bit. The highlight was the amazing place where we had dinner and drinks with a singer singing live music and creating some atmosphere.

Next morning we roamed a bit of the place and left for Rishikesh via Dehradun. I always used to wonder how Dehradun would be like and was glad to visit the place. We luckily again found a wonderful lunch place and had an amazing time having lunch. We shortly reached Rishikesh and sight of river Ganges uplifted all our moods out of our tireness.

It was exactly 3 years back that i had stayed for a night at the shivpuri camp and i was glad to be back. I spent some time recalling my last trip with my close XL friends. We enjoyed till late evening and chatted a lot and soaked in the most amazing view of the trip - full moon with river Ganges flowing in the arms of mountains.

Next morning we were too excited to begin what we came for - 24 kms of rafting. The fact that i was doing it for the second time did not make a difference and the 4 hr stint had the same calming effect on me. It was overwhelming to say the least.

We left for Haridwar post lunch at famous Chotiwala and reached just in time for the main Aarti. Not all of us were amused by being the victim of the pandit scam at Haridwar temple but so was it. We left the city early morning next day and came back to Delhi for lunch. It was April 08, 2012.

We traveled some 900 kms in 4 days time by cab. Looking back we would have wanted to cut down on some of it. Still going to new places is something i enjoy a lot. Its the time i treasure a lot and remember for a long long time.
